  • Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a problem understanding and using language. DLD affects about 2 children in every classroom and yet it is not commonly understood. This lack of knowledge in school based settings limits the chances a child will be identified and given the need supports. DLD is associated with risks for dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

  • Students struggling to read in upper elementary, middle school, and beyond present a unique challenge for teachers in terms of appropriate resources. Erin Paske is a dyslexia tutor, a certified academic language therapist and a licensed dyslexia practitioner. She co-founded the  Nashville Dyslexia Center. For this podcast episode, Erin is joined by MaryKate Heavey DeSantis, a reading and early childhood literacy specialist who currently works as an equitable literacy coach for the city of Boston.
